About us: Pathway K-5 is the first alternative elementary school in Mobile County Public Schools. Each year we aid in shaping the behaviors of approximately seventy students in our Alternative Program. These students that come to our school are often children of trauma and neglect. Unfortunately, this negatively impedes on our students functioning in their regular classrooms and school environment. In addition to our school providing the standard academics, we also work on teaching strategies that help shape their maladaptive behaviors in order for them to successfully transition back to their traditional school settings.

Pathway K-5 ABLE: In addition to the Alternative Program, Pathway K5 offers the ABLE( Autism and Behavioral Learning Extension) Units. This program is designed for students with Autism who exhibit challenging behaviors that make it difficult for them to be successful in their home school. This is a parent choice program that is initiated by a referral. Therefore, the parent has the right to accept or refuse placement.

All staff are trained to use ABA principles when delivering instruction and/or when implementing behavior techniques in the classroom. Family training is also offered for all family members who take an active role in the student’s life. A Board-Certified Behavior Analyst supervises all behavioral services being provided at our program. Our ultimate objective is for students to master their goal and manage their behavior to successfully transition back to their traditional school settings.
