About the school: Gilliard Elementary School is a successful combination of Adelia Williams and South Brookley Elementary Schools. We opened as a new school in the fall of 2005. Gilliard currently serves over 800 students in grades ranging from PreK to 5. Our students live on the peninsula between Interstate 10, Mobile Bay, and Dog River.

We are best known for our Bucket Filler program. This school-wide initiative focuses on character development and a positive school culture. It involves all members of our school community, including students, teachers, bus drivers, cafeteria workers, custodians, office staff, and administrators. The Bucket Filler program promotes kindness and thinking of others through small acts of service and words of encouragement. Gilliard was recognized as a 2020 CLAS School of Distinction for our Bucket Filler program.

We believe that all children are unique and must have a nurturing environment that encompasses an atmosphere where they can grow mentally, physically, emotionally, and socially.

Gilliard teachers are given weekly opportunities to plan collaboratively as a grade level and analyze student data. We take great pride in our ability to empower our students to use their strengths and talents in an effort to compete in a global society.

WE are a family. WE are ACHIEVING EXCELLENCE TOGETHER.
