About the school: Castlen Elementary is the home of the Castlen Cubs! We are a hidden gem tucked away near the Alabama/Mississippi state line. Our school is ranked among the highest in Mobile County. We received a letter grade of A on the last state report card.
Castlen offers after-school clubs in a variety of areas and interests for students. We also have an Archery Team that participates in many tournaments throughout the school year. Our school participates in the National Elementary Honor Society. Each year we hold special events to encourage physical fitness like our Castlen Color Run.
We have a large outdoor classroom that is used for teaching, learning, and growing. The programs we use to teach academics and social skills are all research-based. We place an emphasis on improving student skillsets through the use of technology, which is incorporated into all aspects of our teaching and learning.
Our school is very active in our community and our students and faculty give back in many ways throughout the school year.
We strive to provide a safe and engaging learning environment for students with all ability levels. We fulfill this purpose by offering a variety of opportunities for students to use their problem solving and application skills with research-based strategies. Teachers allow students to set their learning goals and provide guidance and support as students work to reach their personal goals academically and socially. We encourage students to set high expectations for themselves in a constructive and purposeful way daily.
Our approach to learning allows our students the opportunity to collaborate, build social skills, solve problems, and think critically. At Castlen, we refer to and treat one another like family. Everything we do is a team effort with the sole focus being on the students we serve and teach.
