About the school: Mary B. Austin has a rich history of academic excellence that continues today. Our school has been named the only Entrepreneurial School in Alabama. In addition, we were voted as the Best Public Elementary School in 2021, receiving the Nappie Award.

Our purpose is to provide purposeful learning experiences where students can generate ideas, think creatively, reason, problem-solve and communicate effectively through an entrepreneurial mindset. Also, our program affords many opportunities for our students to give back to the community through project-based learning activities that include an integrated approach that includes science, technology, reading, engineering, art, and math (STREAM). Our school focuses on the 4 Cs of the 21st Century: Communication, collaboration, creativity, and critical thinking, with an emphasis on citizenship and community. We believe that these skills, imparted through project-based learning and entrepreneurial thinking, facilitate student success.

Mary B. Austin is the place to “BEE," and it is where Innovation takes place. #AustinInnovators
